Most actors walk into a headshot session thinking they need to perform for the camera — hold a type, hit a look, imitate what they think casting wants. It's actually the opposite--I will break you out of your Blue Steel!
I direct the session to help you drop the performance, so the camera captures the authentic version of you that casting directors actually want to meet. That's the version that books.
Whether you're a first-time actor building your first comp card or a working actor updating your look for a new season, I'll work with you to identify your most castable Types and build a session around them.

"Doug is fantastic. He took the best head shots I've ever had. In addition, he's very professional, friendly and makes you feel comfortable and natural during the photo shoot. He was also incredibly responsive to any requests that I made."
"An outstanding experience from start to finish. The gallery exceeded my highest expectations — exactly the professional headshots I was looking for. Doug was responsive, easy to work with, and provided just the right amount of guidance during the session. The entire process was seamless, with proactive communication and modern technology that made everything simple and efficient."

I've worked with him multiple times now and the experience is always professional and comfortable from start to finish. Doug makes the session feel relaxed and natural. I come out of our sessions with plenty of shots to choose from that perfectly represent my business and personal brand. Plus, his turnaround time is excellent."
The standard two-look session includes two distinct looks — typically one commercial and one theatrical. If you need a wider range of types, the Full Portfolio session includes unlimited looks within a three-hour window. For students and early-career actors, the Essentials single-look session (30 minutes, 1 retouched final) is a great starting point.
Commercial headshots are bright, warm, and approachable — designed to book commercials, sitcoms, and hosting work. Theatrical headshots are more grounded and cinematic, with moodier lighting suited to dramatic film, television, and stage roles. Most working actors need both. We'll discuss your target types before the session and build your looks around them.
Bring options — at least three to four outfits for a two-look session. Avoid busy patterns, large logos, and neon colors. Layers work well: jackets, cardigans, and button-downs suggest a character type without looking like a costume. Once you book, I'll send you a comprehensive wardrobe prep guide that covers everything from color choices to hair and makeup tips.
Yes. I have a roster of trusted local hair and makeup artists I work with regularly and can book for your session at an additional cost. You're also welcome to bring your own artist, or come camera-ready. For most actors, professional hair and makeup is worth the investment — it shows up on screen in a way that self-applied makeup often doesn't.
You'll receive a watermarked proofing gallery within 48 hours of your shoot. Once you select your final images, professional retouching takes 3–5 business days. Rush delivery is available for an additional fee — just ask when booking.
