Why It Matters

Why Your Business Team Needs Professional Headshots

The point is not another head in a square. The point is a visual narrative and vibrational signature that lives, evolves, and grows with your company.

When done well, professional and uniform headshots reflect the professionalism, trustworthiness, and alignment of an organization. Mismatched photos with varied backgrounds undermine the mission and voice of a company and its credibility on every sales call, LinkedIn outreach, and employment and recruitment opportunity.

Professional headshots also offer far more creative flexibility and latitude in terms of cropping, adjusting, and extracting for various media uses and output sizes — including transparent backgrounds, animated rollover effects, and other design treatments that really elevate your visual narrative.

These group and volume headshot sessions are also available alongside company event or conference photography, company retreats and off-sites, and sales appreciation and reward vacations in Santa Barbara. We can set up multiple identical background and lighting setups so your staff won't miss any of your event programming.

Tips for Scheduling Company Staff Headshots at a Retreat or Conference

There is a sweet spot with the timing of sessions — between when people have fully arrived, relaxed, and refreshed after a travel day to get to Santa Barbara or Montecito, and before the rigors of the socializing, learning, and late nights start to take hold and show on the face. To account for travel delays and jet lag, that generally means scheduling your team headshots on day two of the conference.

We bring the Visine, lint rollers, clothing steamer, brushes, and even a makeup artist — but sometimes an ounce of prevention beats a pound of Photoshop. Enter your name and email below to get our Team Headshot Scheduling Template — a Google Sheet you fill in with employee names and timeslots, plus a helpful prep checklist for every person on your team.

Pro Tips

What Do Height or Eye Color Have to Do With Your Team Headshots?

These are just a few of the nuances that can help your large group headshot sequencing go more smoothly. Height affects the background and lighting placement — in a perfect world, similar-height people would be scheduled next to each other.

Similarly, light-colored eyes are generally more photo-sensitive to light than darker-colored eyes and require special considerations, especially when photographing outdoors, to avoid excessive squinting and blinking.

The scheduling spreadsheet above captures all of this — it's the same system used to prep every corporate client before we shoot.

On Location · Goleta

What Is the Best Place for Professional Staff Headshots in Goleta?

Some of my favorite company and corporate locations in Goleta include the Cottage Hospital lobby and surrounding area, the Deckers campus, the area behind M Special Brewing by the airport, and the Sandbox in Goleta for the tech startup and founder vibe. For more urban and contemporary looks with a regional Goleta and central California feel, the SHP Headquarters building and office park at 6500 Hollister works particularly well.

Cottage Hospital Lobby & Area

Clean, professional, and accessible. Great for healthcare and wellness organizations.

Deckers Campus

Modern, architectural, and brand-forward. Ideal for outdoor-lifestyle and consumer brands.

Behind M Special Brewing

Industrial-chic near the airport. Works well for tech, creative, and startup teams.

The Sandbox, Goleta

The definitive tech startup and founder vibe in the Santa Barbara area.

SHP Headquarters — 6500 Hollister

Urban and contemporary with a central California feel. Strong for financial and professional services.

Your Office or Retreat Venue

We come to you. On-location sessions at your office, conference venue, or off-site retreat.

On Location · Montecito

What Is the Best Place for Professional Staff Headshots in Montecito?

There are a few brand new beautiful office buildings in the lower village, including the tile spiral staircase at 1165 Coast Village Road near the Chase Bank, the very modern Morgan Stanley office tucked down off Coast Village, and the Berkshire Hathaway suite of offices — or, in a pinch, you can also rent temp space at the Regus there. In the upper village, the area in front of the Northern Trust door and the area behind the Tecolote Bookstore both work well for team and individual headshots.

1165 Coast Village Road

Tile spiral staircase near Chase Bank — architectural, distinctive, and brand-forward for the lower village.

Morgan Stanley Office

Modern and refined, tucked off Coast Village. Ideal for financial services and professional firms.

Berkshire Hathaway Offices

Established and polished. Strong for real estate, wealth management, and professional services teams.

Regus — Lower Village

Flexible temp space available for rent. Good fallback for teams without a local office footprint.

Northern Trust — Upper Village

The area in front of the Northern Trust door offers a clean, professional backdrop in the upper village.

Behind Tecolote Bookstore

A quieter, more textured upper village option. Works well for both team and individual headshots.

FAQ

Common Questions About Volume Headshots

How many people can you photograph in a day?
With a single setup, we typically photograph 30–60 people in a full day, allowing 5–10 minutes per person. For larger groups, we can set up multiple identical background and lighting setups simultaneously so your staff won't miss any of your event programming.
Do you travel to our office or retreat location?
Yes. Travel up to 30 minutes from Santa Barbara is included in every session. For retreats and conferences in Montecito, Goleta, Ventura County, or further afield, travel fees apply — contact us for a custom quote.
What's the difference between the membership and a one-time session?
The annual membership ($1,595 for teams up to 12) includes two scheduled sessions per year — so you're covered for new hires, leadership changes, and refreshes without re-booking from scratch. It also saves 15% off one-time rates and includes free retouching. The one-time session is ideal for a single conference or company event.
When during a conference should we schedule headshots?
Day two is almost always the sweet spot. By then, your team has arrived, settled in, and recovered from travel — but the late nights and long sessions haven't yet taken a visible toll. Scheduling on day one risks jet lag and travel delays; day three or four often shows fatigue on the face. Download the free scheduling spreadsheet above for a full pre-planning checklist.
What should employees wear for their headshots?
Solid colors in mid-tones photograph best — avoid busy patterns, bright whites, and neon. Business professional or business casual depending on your brand. The scheduling spreadsheet includes a full wardrobe checklist to share with your team in advance. We also bring a clothing steamer and lint rollers on set.
Does eye color or height actually affect the session?
It does. Light-colored eyes are more photo-sensitive to bright light and may require adjustments — especially outdoors — to prevent squinting. Height affects background and lighting placement, so grouping similar-height employees together in the schedule reduces setup time between shots. The scheduling spreadsheet captures all of this so your coordinator can sequence the day efficiently.
How long does retouching take and what does it include?
Standard turnaround is two weeks from the shoot date. Retouching covers the top two favorites per person — skin smoothing, blemish removal, eye brightening, and color correction. Expedited delivery is available. Membership clients receive free retouching on all sessions.
